Performance Results

How fast should my hardware be? Here are some users results.

Please read the PerformanceHowTo page first to make sure you didnt do something silly to slow down your system.

Use something like this:

mpeg2dec -o null foo.mpg
mpeg2dec -o xvshm foo.mpg
mpeg2dec -o <other-driver> foo.mpg

(This is dependent on the stream used. Should base results on a standard freely available vob? Ideas for which one? Maybe multiple streams with different properties? Is the amount of memory important?)

This is test will measure the performance of:

input
decapsulation
buffering
decoding (mpeg2dec)
output layers (X11 throughput, YUV2RGB conversion, scaling)
1000 first frames of The Matrix
using the latest versions of oms
using null audio output

(need instructions on how to do this.... how to only play 1000 frames and get the timing?)
