Describe LividWishList here.

  1. Binary distribution (please?)
  2. Is the framebuffer device fast enough for video playback?

  3. An up to date OMS How-To...........that remains up to date
  4. AC3 (and possibly dts) passthrough.

  5. A free replacement for the AC3 and DTS that can be incorperated by chip makers.
  6. Keyboard or command line controls for the gui so that it can be controlled with a long keyboard extension or an LIRC infra-red remote. -- Toby Jaffey

  7. Yes! Please, support for a remote control interface (without X)

  8. RealMagic hardware decoder support.

  9. Trident hardware decoder support.

  10. Support for ATI hardware acceleration (unless it is already possible, if so yell at zifnab@nmt.edu) (see GatosProject)
  11. A lot of windows DVD programs come with performance checkers-- small programs that check for the presence of overlays, 48Khz capable soundcards, dma etc, and warn the user of possible problems. It might be usefull to include a program that explicitly checks for Xv drivers, mtrr, dma, /dev/raw, known buggy kernels, etc, and explicitly warns the user of potential problems. It might go a long way towards making LiVid easier to support.--JeremyErwin

  12. The basic assumption with much of the documentation is that a regionset has been performed by something else (probably by using the DVD under Windows). For those starting with a fresh drive, the region setting must be explained and instructions provided. It would be nice if the firt time OMS was used it detected the condition and offered to perform a region set... (Mace Moneta)

  13. Is there a DVD video player which can also act as a CD ROM R/RW device? YES
Support for hardware-accelerated DVD-playback with Fujitsu-Siemens DVB-card I think there is potential for working together with these ones:

DVB-card driver http://www.linuxtv.org

DVB-card DVD-player http://www2.arnes.si/~mthale1/index.html

The project this all should come together in http://www.cadsoftusa.com/people/kls/vdr/
