GOLF - FLOP IT TO STOP IT

When I play with amateurs, I realize that a lot of them - it doesn’t matter their playing level - aim for the flag every time they are hitting to the green. Obviously this causes very tricky situations from the side of the green.

This is a common scenario for most of these situations: the ball is on the rough, and there is very little room for rolling the ball on the green due to the small distance between the fringe and the hole. What a nightmare!

By using a flop shot however, this situation can be solved and you can stop the ball on the green near the hole by following three easy steps:

The first step is to aim to the left of your target.
This will be compensated because the second step is to open the face of the club so it is aimed at the hole. Also, by opening the club face, the ball will go up in the air very quickly.

The final step is to place the ball at the centre of your stance.
After following these easy steps, swing with rhythm. It is very important to accelerate through the impact. Look in the picture how vertically the ball releases from the club facE.
The flop shot is a risky one, but with practice you will be able to save a lot of strokes!
