QUAD BIKES - DISCOVER THE MAGIC OF NATURAL ALMERÍA

Living in this part of Almería it’s easy to take the natural beauty of the landscape for granted, particularly the mountains: they have simply always been there! You probably haven’t even realised they provide the most amazing opportunity to explore and discover the real magic of some of the fantastic scenery this area has to offer.

There are hundreds of kilometres of tracks where you can see wild plants and animals in their natural habitat, and incredible views which seem to go on forever.

Naturally you need the right type of vehicle to cope with such terrain, the obvious being a four-wheel drive. Bit if you’d like to be a bit more adventurous you could go by quad bike.

Just recently a friend of mine did just that. He joined a three-hour excursion into the Cabrera mountains. His experience with this kind of vehicle was very limited, but after some basic training he was ready to take on the mountain tracks. This proved to be demanding on his powers of concentration, but also full of excitement and amazement at how remote and peaceful the mountains seemed.

The group eventually arrived in Cabrera, where there is the opportunity to enjoy a drink and some tapas and to take some more photos for the album. After a 30-minute break they continued on down the asphalted road to Turre, and then on to the main road and back to Mojácar Playa via Mojácar Pueblo.

The whole experience proved to be everything he had hoped, and something out of the ordinary for people who are used to living in towns and cities.

His conclusion: it was well worth trying. Quad excursions make an unusual, but ideal gift.
