This post is to announce a new, improved port of the WISE project 
management and metrics package to the Linux operating system.

Changes:

 *) More bug fixes.

 *) This version now requires mSQL version 2.0.  

 *) A new report generation mechanism has been added in order
    to gracefully support large project databases.  In the older 
    versions, a list of more than a few hundred defects was
    difficult to scan through.
 
 *) gnuplot a.out binaries removed.

P.S. I am looking for volunteers to add templates for other 
project types, e.g. software architecture, proposal tracking,
help-desk operations, release management, to name a few.

I am also looking for volunteers to add a (Visual) Tcl 
interface for the project description language so that
it becomes easier to manage team membership lists, create
new project templates, etc.

Description:    WISE is a web-based project management tool.
                It is highly configurable, and can be easily
                modified to describe a variety of functional 
                roles and project status states.  Users can
                different roles, and priveledges associated
                with a given role can be tightly controlled.
                The package includes tools to automatically
                generate various software metrics.

                The package provides a nice web-based user 
                interface, and includes support for checkboxes, 
                menus, text fields, dates, numbers, etc. Project
                status is stored in an SQL databse; an SQL log 
                of status changes is maintained.

                The beauty of this package is that it is easily
                configurable to follow your project methodologies
                and workflow, unlike most other project management 
                tools out there.

                Note that this package is a port to linux
                of the original WISE package. Assorted bugs
                have been fixed. A prototypical template
                for industrial-strength bug-tracking has 
                been added. Documentation is now included with
                the package.  A new report generation mechanism 
                has been added in order to support large 
                project databases.
 
                This package requires netpbm and gnuplot version
                3.6 to enable it's software metrics portions.
                i386-elf gnuplot binaries are included.
